Our Wider Offer

We have a very good extra-curricular provision.  There is a good range of clubs each term, including multi-skills and tennis run by a professional coach from the Dragon Leisure Centre, art club, singing club  and football club run by a Cornwall FA coach.

The children really enjoy going to clubs and we often see them really growing in confidence through these experiences.

We arrange a number of school trips during the school year.  Destinations have included  The Eden Project, Lanhydrock House and Gardens, as well as local places such as local churches and The Beacon Nature reserve.

Beacon provides numerous opportunities throughout the school year to support our children to develop knowledge, behaviour and skills that help them to demonstrate cultural awareness, which in turn, will support them to be successful in society, their future careers and the world of work. Please see our ‘Ignite Wonder’ calendars below which shows our 'Cultural Capital' days and weeks for each term.

Kernow Learning and Ogden Trust Partnership

The Bodmin Partnership started in September 2020 under the leadership of Simon Rowe, who wanted to provide more opportunities for the children he teaches at Beacon Ace Academy, part of the Kernow Learning Multi Academy Trust. The Bodmin Partnership now includes eleven of the MAT primary schools, all located in rural, isolated, or deprived parts of Cornwall, where aspirations and prospects can be limited.

30 science ambassadors from six schools in the Bodmin Partnership visited Discovering 42 – Cornwall’s award-winning science and art museum – to learn how to busk. They each had a go at eight activities and after plenty of time to hone their busking skills they used their newfound presenting talent to wow the rest of the group – excellent practice for when they did it back in their own schools!
